Buckles and bands lend intrigue to the clean lines of FRYE’s Shirley Strappy knee-high, a boot with equestrian lines and old West charm. An ankle zipper grants quick access to the rugged leather shaft, while a smart wooden heel keeps this look from falling too flat. A leather sole offers luxury in every step, so you’re cool and elegant from all angles.

These boots are really stylish and very well made. They run almost a size too large, so I had to send them back for a smaller size. I usually wear an 11, but 10 worked out for me. You will be happy with these boots.

I bought these boots in a US 8.5 which is my usual size. I have fairly narrow feet with a slighter higher-than-average arch and these fit me nicely. I wanted to wear them with a thicker sock for an upcoming trip to NYC this Christmas and with thick socks they are quite tight in the foot and across the arch, but after wearing them for a few hours they are already stretching and I think they’ll be fine. I’m 5’8″ with average sized calves (about 14″) and the shaft of this boot is nice and tall and comes within 2 inches or so of my knees. It is fairly snug at the top of the boot but I can still get skinny jeans under them and I know they’ll stretch and start to “give” a bit as I continue to wear them. I also added an extra hole on the strap at the top so I could loosen them up a bit further. I bought the dark brown colour and the leather is absolutely gorgeous and extremely soft and rich. Although you can push the shaft down for a real “slouch” look they also stay up really well when you want to wear them as tall boots, although for someone with really skinny calves they may tend to slouch a bit more. Easy to get on and off with the inside zipper. I did notice after wearing them for a full day shopping that the bottom of my feet started to ache a bit – I think I need a bit more arch support so have now added arch-support insoles and they feel great. Overall one of my favourite Frye boots and I am quickly building quite a collection (Logo Riding, Jane Strappy, Carson Shortie, Veronica Shortie, Veronica Slouch and Billy Short)!!

Disappointed – Too Narrow at Top,

The interior shaft circumference on these boots (or at least the pair I received) is about 14.5 inches, which in my experience is unusually small for boots. I’m 5′ 5″ and 115 pounds with average sized calves, but the shaft on these is too narrow for my calves. I have tried on MANY boots over the past couple years, and this is the first time ever that a boot has been too small on my calves. In fact, often the shaft of a boot is too large for me. The boots are gorgeous and very well made, but I can’t see them fitting the majority of women, so I am giving two stars. I recommend not ordering them unless your calves are 14.5 inches or smaller. And if you like to wear your boots with jeans tucked in, you’ll need to consider whether there’s enough room for the jeans. If you have skinny pinny calves, these might be a great choice for you. |
